Hey There! I'm Samantha
A Bit About Me
Wow, where to begin, I will try to keep this short and sweet!
There has been a few very influential people in my life that really set me on the path I am on today, although ALL OF THEM would say "How in the World did CHICKENS come into play?" *shrug ;) But besides my parents who nurtured me towards the dreams I wanted to pursue, there are two people who stand out. My Papa Ralph Harper and my partner Scott Belden. Both of these men believed in a young woman who wanted to be in the rough and tumble agricultural life. They didn't say "Ooo you're a girl, you can't do that." They both developed my passions for horses and cattle on my Papa's ranch. My love for dogs. And taught or gave me the confidence and opportunities to learn the not so girly things like; driving the tractors, fixing fence, cutting firewood, baling hay, and even welding. These two men really framed my life and even though one has passed, Scott is still right here by my side rooting for me. I know when I catch a drift of Levi Garett on the wind, it is my Papa, watching and rooting for me still. Here is a secret, I put him in charge of all of my animals, in my piece of Heaven, that have gone before me to watch over and caretake until I get to be there too.

Behind the Name

BEHIND CROSS B HENS N HEIFERS
Cross B Hens N Heifers is Samantha Harper’s (myself) branch of the Cross B Ranch located in Broken Arrow, OK. The Cross B name comes from a brand that my Papa Ralph Harper had and used for his Dairy Cattle operation. I gave this brand to my partner Scott Belden to start his official business, Cross B Cattle and Hay LLC. The Cattle and Hay branch is the sole bread making of the ranch, so it is what does come first. We raise about ~250 head of commercial beef cattle and bale between 6,000 and 10,000 round bales a year. So whenever I am not doing cattle or hay, I am usually working with the chickens! I also have my own small herd which is where the name "Hens N Heifers" comes from. One day I hope to have an awesome Chicken Barn, but I gotta get Scott on board first!
