At Cross B Farms, our cattle program is built around function, longevity, and transparency. Our herd consists of commercial, unregistered cattle managed with clear intent. Animals are evaluated either for herd improvement or for beef production, and each path is handled separately and responsibly.
What Built Cross B
This cattle program exists because of a life I was shown long before it was ever chosen.

My Papa, Ralph Harper, didn’t teach ranching as a career. He lived it. I was with him before I could work, before I could help, before I understood. Ranch life wasn’t romanticized or forced upon me. It was ordinary days, quiet work, and the freedom that comes from time spent outside, learning by presence rather than instruction.

Later, Scott entered my life when that passion was real but still fragile. He didn’t shape it. He trusted it. He gave me my first cow, then something harder to give, ownership and responsibility. Skin in the game. One animal became a herd, slowly and intentionally, and with it came the confidence to build something real.

It was during that season that we chose the Cross B name. The cross reflects the values we build this life on. The B stands for partnership and shared responsibility. While the mark itself reaches back through earlier generations of cattlemen, the meaning it carries today was chosen by us.
This program reflects both influences. The life that planted the passion, and the partnership that allowed it to grow. It exists not as a career, but as a continuation of a way of living that brings purpose and fulfillment.
